(Jersey City, NJ) -- (10/06/2015) Local lingerie boutique pairs up with nonprofit during Domestic Violence Awareness Month helping provide battered woman essentials by donations of new or gently used bras.

Naughty and Nice Lingerie has announced their recent partnership with Community Uplifting Project of Jersey City, NJ, to help provide fundamentals to women of domestic violence. In support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the boutique has also pledged several hundred dollars in bras to help kick start the campaign and show support to women in need. The project, which will run through November 1st of 2015, accepts both new and gently used bras of all sizes and styles, including sports bras, nursing bras, and even camisoles.

“Many women escape with only the clothes on their backs, and may not have access to money to pay for accommodations,” notes Melissa Jeltsen in her June Huffington Post article on domestic violence. The story details exactly why it’s so hard for many to women to leave an abusive relationship because of the lack of a support system both in their personal life and surrounding communities.

For many women, they also run the risk of falling victim to financial abuse and isolation; both are common tactics used in many domestic abuse situations which adds even more obstacles for those trying to free themselves of violent living situations. Many women simply lack any semblance of a community support system, and thus feel trapped.

“I believe that giving is beautiful and what better way in showing support than by donating a bra to women in need,” explains Owner, Brenda Gonzalez. “Any woman can fall victim – it could be your sister, daughter or even someone you work with. Our bras have provided support to us for many years – so isn’t it time to pay it forward?”

New purchase donations are also being accepted through the Naughty and Nice Lingerie website. Contributors can simply donate a new bra by typing “donate a bra” in the order notes box upon checkout.
