Top Tips for Safe Travel

There are so many alluring places to explore around the world that the issue of personal safety can seem a little humdrum. We don’t want to spoil your party, far from it. We want you to have the most amazing experience. With that in mind we’ve put together a few travel safety tips:

1) Secure your belongings

2) Plan all journeys

Whether it’s from the airport to your hotel or tacking a trip into town, plan ahead. Look up buses and trains, timetables, and know your route. Most hotel lobbies have area maps you can use so take one and keep it with you when you’re out and about.

3) Get your vaccinations

Depending on where you’re going you may need vaccinations. Some of these need to be done a few months in advance so check with your doctor.

4) Have more than one source of money

Like the old saying says, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Just in case the worst does happen, take more than one credit card with you so that you have options when it comes to paying when you’re out and about.

5) Stick with licensed taxis

These are usually easy to spot, but if they’re not check at your hotel. Stick with licensed taxis at all times. If you need one from your hotel, ask the clerk at reception to arrange one for you.

6) Know the rules

This may sound obvious but you’ll be surprised at how money people fall foul of local customs. For example, in some countries public displays of affection are not allowed. A good travel guide to your chosen destination should have the information you need.

7) Check the fine print

Before you sign up to any organised tours or activities make sure you know exactly what’s included. This is especially important if you’re trying activities which could be dangerous such as scuba diving – check their credentials

8) Check your travel insurance

As well as making sure your travel insurance is up to date, make sure you know exactly what’s included. If the worst does happen, you don’t want to be left with a hefty bill.
